Crypto currency status bitcoin now does not have a certain legal status in Ukraine. This was recalled by Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Oleg Churiy on the official page of the regulator in Facebook.

"The definition of this status is complicated by the absence of a consolidated approach to the classification of bitcoins and regulation of transactions with it in the world," Chury.

He noted that in a number of countries, operations with crypto-currency are officially permitted. They are usually treated as a commodity or an investment asset and are subject to the relevant legislation for tax purposes. In some countries bitcoin is recognized as the monetary unit, Chury.

In different countries bitcoin is classified in different ways - as virtual currency, monetary surrogate, intangible value, virtual goods and the like. For its part, the National Bank of Ukraine has not officially supported any of the above definitions, "the deputy head of the National Bank of Ukraine.

He added that in order to develop a common position regarding the legal status of the crypto currency and its regulation, the National Bank began a dialogue with the Ministry of Finance, the State Fiscal Service, the State Financial Monitoring Service, the National Commission on Securities and the Stock Market, and the National Commission that implements state regulation in Sphere of financial services markets.
