The other day, Luo Jongsheng, who is one of the executive directors of Foxconn, gave a short interview to the publication MyDrivers. It is worth noting that it was almost immediately removed and there are suspicions that this was the hand of Apple or Foxconn. Anyway, in this interview, Luo talks about why the iPhone 8 will be as expensive as everyone expects. The reason for the unusual frameless OLED-display with a notch in the upper part, behind which the sensors.

It is because of this cut that the OLED panel has to be cut out in a special way, and as a result, it considerably complicates the production of screens.

In particular, it was reported that about 40% of products are defective as a result of these manipulations. This is a huge percentage of marriage! Naturally, this affects the production time, spent resources and other things. As a result, the finished iPhone 8 will cost at least $ 1000.

Why did Apple decide to make the screen just this, and not the usual rectangular, which would reduce the price for the end user and simplify the production process, remains a mystery.
