Adding support for eye tracking technology in the latest builds of the future autumn update of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was well received by the public, but the function requires certain hardware solutions that do not fit well with tablets or laptops because they require placement in front of the PC.

However, judging by one of Microsoft's patents, the company is considering a way to overcome these inconveniences and integrate support for depth tracking, gesture and look at its Surface Pro tablets. The idea of ??a module using Surface keyboard connectors for powering and data transmission and at the same time reliably fixed with magnets.

In turn, the module is allocated with slots for the keyboard Surface, acting as a kind of adapter that does not interfere with normal interaction with the device. The tilt of the cameras is chosen to track the movements of the user's hands in the area above the keyboard, and the viewing angle is conceived enough to recognize faces. The main innovation in the accessory is the modularity and unique connection to the tablet.

One of the inventors of the patented solution is Kfir Karmon (Kfir Karmon), who leads the Prague Lead project and is the managing engineer at the Microsoft Advanced Technologies Laboratory. The Prague project allows application developers to add support for basic gestures of hands without much difficulty, and with a small effort to create their own gestures. Here is an old clip dedicated to him:.

However, it is not yet known whether Microsoft is going to implement the idea of ??the accessory described in the patent in practice, or if it wants, simply integrates the necessary hardware modules into a new tablet or notebook Surface.
