This weekend, some Unocoin users reported that their funds were stolen. As a result, the Indian exchanger temporarily closed access to the site (having disabled the posting), and also announced that it would reimburse the funds lost as a result of the theft.
Since the unknown number of accounts, 0.25 BTC was stolen (about $ 840 at the current rate). The startup, who works as an exchanger, and as a purse, reported in a special blog post that the incident concerns a small number of customers.
Nevertheless, Unocoin took responsibility for the incident on itself and promised to compensate the stolen funds for the injured users.
Thanks to our security system, right after the first few transactions our server successfully identified the template and stopped the processing of transactions by moving them to the status "in processing". Now we are working on cancellation of transactions in this status. Unocoin takes responsibility for itself and will return the money that was stolen.
Due to the incident, Unocoin suspended the possibility of posting on the site. Some exchanger clients already reported on Twitter that their funds were returned.
The possibility of making transactions was also suspended.
As the Exchange informs, it is necessary to investigate and verify the functioning of the security system. Once the system is verified, the possibility of making transactions will be enabled again.
The function of sending money will be included, as soon as our security experts are convinced by 100% that it is safe.
At the moment, the exchange attracted venture capital worth about $ 2 million, including during the next round of financing of $ 1.5 million, which took place in September last year.
