Protection of wireless systems (WI-FI) in Ukraine is at a very low level. This was reported by the press service of the Department of Cyber ??Police of the National Police of Ukraine in Facebook.
"At the extremely low level, the protection of wireless computer networks and the knowledge of ordinary users in the field of information security remain," note in the cyberpolicy, referring to the results of the analysis conducted by the Department's employees.
It is indicated that approximately 75% of wireless systems can be successfully attacked. In every second system with a wireless network, access to the local computer network of private and public sector institutions is possible.
At the same time, the methods of attacks on corporate and state infrastructures are still based on the use of common well-known vulnerabilities and software shortcomings.
"Vulnerabilities of a critical level are present in almost half of the information infrastructures of the private and public sectors. Private researchers note that a significant percentage of such vulnerabilities (40%) are errors in software configuration, errors in the program code (27% of systems) and the absence or untimely security updates (20% of systems), "the report says..
Cyberpolicy added that such vulnerabilities create a situation in which even an attacker with a small amount of relevant knowledge and low skills in the field of information technology will be able to intervene in the operation of information systems.
The cyberpolicy was recommended to observe a strict password policy, to refuse to grant administrative authority to ordinary users, and also to store important information in closed access and regularly update the software at all levels.
"Separately, it should be noted that a sufficiently large number of Web applications have different vulnerabilities. In 77% of the cases of remote intervention in information systems, unlawful access was made possible precisely because of the vulnerability of web-based applications of resources that were the victims of attacks, "warned the cyberpolicy.
