The company Transcend Information, a well-known manufacturer of drives and multimedia products, expects the remaining memory deficit DRAM and NAND flash in the third quarter of 2017.

As DigiTimes reports referring to the Transcend statement, due to supply problems, contract memory prices will continue to grow in the short term.

The lack of NAND flash chips, especially those based on TLC technology (three bits in one cell, used mainly in consumer drives), negatively affected the financial performance of Transcend. In the second quarter of 2017, the company's revenue decreased by 6.3% compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to 5 billion Taiwan dollars (165.5 million US dollars).

To remedy the situation, the manufacturer relies on niche products, due to which he managed to increase gross profit from 21.1% to 26.2%. The share of industrial solutions in Transcend's revenue in the second quarter of 2017 was 43.6%. Standard RAM modules.
