Meizu has found a new supplier of processors for flagship smartphones

The Chinese manufacturer of smartphones Meizu decided to replace the supplier of mobile processors. According to the South Korean edition of Chosun Ilbo, referenced by DigiTimes portal, the company plans to purchase chips for flagship smartphones from MediaTek instead of Samsung Electronics.

Meizu is the largest Chinese buyer of Samsung Exynos processors. The company began using the Exynos 5430 in the Meizu Pro 4 smartphone in 2014, the Exynos 7420 in the Meizu Pro 5 in 2015 and the Exynos 8890 in the Meizu Pro 6 Plus in 2016. At the same time, Meizu Pro 6 phones are equipped with a single-chip MediaTek Helio X25.

Chosun Ilbo writes that Meizu is going to use the single-chip MediaTek Helio P25 system in the Pro 7 smartphone and the MediaTek Helio X30 solution in the Pro 7 Plus model.

The devices themselves will be distinguished by the high-level technical equipment peculiar to premium products, according to sources DigiTimes in Taiwan's channel of supplies of components for phones.

Earlier it was reported that Samsung sent a special team to the Meizu office to negotiate the preservation of cooperation.

In 2016, Meizu put on the world market about 22 million smartphones, which is a record value for the company. In 2015, the manufacturer produced 20 million tubes. Most of the Meizu phones (about 90%) are sold in China.
