In Russia, the Federation Council approved a draft law on restricting freedom on the Internet

The Federation Council of Russia approved a bill that prohibits the use of proxy servers, including a virtual corporate network, Radio Liberty reports..

"The document, adopted on July 25, also prohibits anonymously sending telephone messages," the newspaper notes..

On July 21 this bill was approved by the lower chamber of the Russian parliament, the State Duma. Now the document will be sent for signature to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In case of signing, the document will come into force on January 1, 2018 - less than 3 months before the presidential elections, in which, it is expected, Vladimir Putin will still participate.
