In 2014, immigrants from Google established their own company Jide Technology and presented the operating system Remix OS, based on Android phones. The project immediately attracted attention, since this OS was a symbiosis of Android and Windows and was aimed at working with several applications simultaneously using a keyboard and mouse - both on personal computers. The company has released several devices based on Remix OS and actively developed the firmware for three years. But this week, developers announced the termination of their activities.
"Over the past year, we have received more and more requests from businesses in various industries and have begun to help them create excellent tools for their organizations using the Jide software and hardware. We see tremendous potential in how Jide can revolutionize the activities of these companies.
And considering our existing resources, we decided to focus our efforts exclusively on working with enterprises, "says Jide Technology blog.
The company completely ceases to develop Remix OS. Those who ordered a Remix IO mini-computer or IO + on Kickstarter last year will receive a full refund.
Note that this is not the first time when developers of popular custom firmware stop their activities. At the end of last year, similarly, Cyanogen stopped working on CyanogenMod and transferred the project to a community of enthusiasts.
