Researchers in the field of Internet security have calculated pornobotnet SIREN, who distributed links to erotic videos on Twitter. This is reported in the report of the company ZeroFOX.
According to experts, the botnet controlled more than 90 thousand accounts and generated 8.5 million posts, which makes it the largest network of fake accounts in social networks. Since February 2017, more than 30 million people have moved to SIREN-hosted links.
Accounts-bots pretended to be young girls and contacted users through responses to their tweets, suggesting to go to the links attached to their posts. The victims got to sites with pornoroliki and erotic chats, where they were offered to leave their payment data under the guise of registration of a paid premium subscription.
In June, Motherboard journalists got access to a server that used pornobot on Twitter. There were hundreds of names, thousands of erotic photographs and signatures to them, through which the fake account distributed links to adult sites.
