Supplies of Apple computers in the past quarter remained almost at the level of last year's figures, while the entire PC market experienced a decline. This is evidenced by the data from the reports of Gartner and IDC, presented the day before.

According to Gartner, in April-June of 2017, Apple shipped 4.24 million Mac devices worldwide, which is 0.4% less than in the same period in 2016, when shipments were at 4.26 million units. At the same time, Apple's market share slightly increased from 6.7% to 6.9%, taking into account that the American corporation took the fourth place in the rating, losing to HP, Lenovo, Dell, but ahead of the Taiwan competitors ASUS and Acer.

Observers of AppleInsider call such results strange, because in June Apple updated its computer line, introducing the latest versions of the MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac. Moreover, even in the USA, where Mac devices are traditionally in demand the most, Apple registered a decline, and even more pronounced than the market as a whole.

According to Gartner, shipments from Apple in its domestic market fell by 9.6%, from 1.8 to 1.65 million devices, which resulted in a decrease in the share from 12.3% to 11.8%. At the same time, total shipments of computers in the US in the second quarter of 2017 decreased by only 5.7%, from 14.85 to 14 million units. As in the world, at home, Apple remained the fourth in the ranking of leading PC brands.

IDC statistics for Mac devices look a little more optimistic. Experts estimated that Apple delivered 4.3 million of its computers, improving the result of a year ago by 1.7%. The share of Apple experts estimated at 7.2%, which again corresponds to the fourth place in the ranking. At the same time, in the world PC market, as well as Gartner, IDC analysts registered a decrease. Global shipments decreased by 3.3%, to 60.5 million units (according to Gartner - by 4.3%, to 61.1 million units).

It is worth noting that the Gartner and IDC data are preliminary. Later, experts can change the numbers. As for the difference in the analysts' calculations, it is connected with the criteria by which experts classify devices as a category PC.

So, Gartner takes into account not only desktop PCs, laptops and ultra-portable PCs of premium class, but also hybrid tablets based on Windows, such as Microsoft Surface. At the same time, to the PC segment, experts do not include hrombuki and tablets based on other platforms.

In IDC, desktops, laptops, ultra-thin laptops, hrombuki, workstations are classified as personal computers, but do not include all kinds of tablets (iPad, as well as devices with removable keyboards based on Windows and Android), and servers on the x86 architecture.
