Since the end of June, the YouTube team has been unhurriedly introducing a new feature for the desktop version of the service - animated previews of video clips. When you hover the cursor on the thumbnail, it loses three seconds of video, in the style of animated GIFs.

While such previews appeared in a small number of users, but the coverage is gradually expanding. Previews are available on the YouTube homepage, in the search results, the watch page, the tabs of subscriptions and "In trend".

At the moment, animated previews are supported only by selected desktop browsers - Chrome version 32 and above, as well as Opera version 19 and higher. For mobile devices, the feature is not yet supported.
