The startup Essential, founded by the Android creator Andy Rubin, did not begin shipping the Essential Phone. The company said that the first buyers will receive the devices before the end of June, but the novelty has not yet appeared on sale.

Essential Phone was introduced in May this year. The device is characterized by a frameless display and is equipped with a range of accessories that are connected to it using a magnetic connector. On the day of the presentation Andy Rubin said that the gadget will be on sale within 30 days - this deadline has expired on June 29.

As reported by Cnet, the edition ordered two copies of Essential Phone, but never received them. The manufacturer did not explain the reasons for the delay, the official website of the project says that the users who reserved the device will be notified of the appearance of the gadget.

Note that the Essential Phone display is almost frameless, at the top it skirts the front camera. Dimensions of the frame below are also small, which allows you to maximize the use of the area of ??the front panel. The case of the device is not made of traditional aluminum for modern smartphones, but of titanium and ceramics.

Delays in the beginning of sales of mobile devices happen often. As a rule, this happens because of supply problems, the need to refine software or additional checks by regulators.

"As a rule, manufacturers declare only a general time frame, so as not to encounter such cases," writes Сnet. "But when such famous people as Rubin make public promises, we can not but remember this. We hope that the Essential delay is needed in order to fix errors in the software and to avoid problems with the build-up like those that caused the Galaxy Note 7 to explode in 2016 ".

According to reports, Essential attracted additional investments at the end of May. Sources say the amount of $ 300 million, taking into account which Essential is now estimated at $ 1 billion.

It is known that among the Essential investors is the Playground Global fund, which plays the role of an incubator for young companies and invests in interesting developments. The agreement to receive $ 100 million, reached with the Softbank Group, fell through after Apple entered it.
