Taiwanese company MSI, recently released to the market of game monitors, intends to compete with the leader of this segment Asustek Computer. MSI expects that the brand's well-deserved reputation in the field of gaming laptops will attract customers to other types of its products, including displays.
In 2016, MSI delivered 850 thousand laptops targeted at computer games enthusiasts, and also released 3.8 million branded graphics cards. Thanks to this, the company's net profit last year reached 4.9 billion Taiwan dollars (163.66 million US dollars). In 2017, MSI can increase the supply of gaming laptops to 1.1 million units and improve financial indicators.
As for gaming monitors, Asustek is leading in this market with a share of 30-35%, followed by BenQ and Acer. In 2016, MSI released its first gaming displays Optix G27C, based on curved panels produced by Samsung Display. Due to lack of experience in selling such monitors, the MSI novelty did not cause a stir. However, since then the company has improved its marketing strategy. Due to the fact that MSI began to promote game monitors with desktop PC systems for gamers, sales of the first have grown recently.
Recently, MSI has expanded its range of gaming displays with two new models based on Samsung's 24- and 27-inch curved panels, which are bundled with gaming desktops.
The largest markets for this MSI product are North America and Europe.
According to the forecast of analysts, the world supply of game monitors with a frequency of 144 Hz in 2017 should grow to 2.5 million pieces, while in 2016 their shipments were at 1.2 million units, and in 2015 they did not exceed 500 -600 thousand pieces. In 2018 is expected to grow by 1 million units, to 3.5 million devices. Although gamer models are only 1-2% of the total supply of monitors, in monetary terms, their share reaches 3%, experts say.
