Nokia has recruited Gregory Lee, the top manager of Samsung, who has held executive positions since 2004, and since 2014 led the division of the Korean firm in North America. Lee will take the post of Ramzi Haidamus, head of Nokia Technologies, who left the company last September.
According to VentureBeat, Samsung Li was responsible for the consumer business, including mobile phones, virtual reality, as well as health-related technologies. The general director and president of Nokia Technologies Rajiv Suri called the manager the most suitable person for the position, as the Finnish company is focused on these three areas.
Nokia, once one of the largest mobile phone manufacturers, in 2014 shifted focus, selling the "mobile" division of Microsoft. Finns took up online maps, navigation and production of telecom equipment, and electronics was left to the department of Nokia Technologies.
It was led by Gregory Lee. This unit, in particular, is responsible for the spherical VR-camera Ozo, which is capable of recording with 360-degree video and surround sound, and the fitness device start-up Withings, bought by Nokia for $ 192 million last year.
