Clients Bithumb, the largest stock of bitcoins in South Korea, lost several million dollars after a hacker attack. A total of 31,800 users were hacked, the exchange speaks of a 3% compromised user base along with phone numbers, electronic boxes and personal data.

As the local newspaper reports, one of the victims instantly accounted for $ 9000 from the account, another lost more than $ 1 million.

Hacking was discovered by the Exchange administration on June 29. Already on the 30th he was reported to the police. There also sent their statements to more than a hundred affected users of Bithumb.

Administrators say that at least a break in the user base occurred on their side, but hackers did not get direct access to the money on the exchange. Hacking was carried out through a personal computer of the Exchange employee, and not through the internal network of the exchange, its server or digital currency purses.

Representatives of Bithumb promised to recover a maximum of $ 870 injured. The rest will be recovered only after receiving details about the burglary.
