Samsung Display continues to dominate the display market for smartphones

According to the research company IHS, Samsung Display remains the unconditional leader in the display market for smartphones, in particular, thanks to the curved panels OLED, which are beginning to actively use smartphone manufacturers.

In the display segment with a diagonal of up to 9 inches Samsung Display earned 3.55 billion dollars in the first quarter of this year, taking 27.2% of the market. The second place is occupied by Japan Display with a share of 17.8%, the third - LG Display, which occupied 12.2%.

Speaking exclusively about displays for smartphones, Samsung Display belonged to 34.6%, Japan Display - 18.

8%, and LG Display - 12.7%. The category of displays for the smartphone accounted for 76.2% of the segment of small and medium panels, and revenue for the year increased by 41%, amounting to 9.94 billion dollars.

The average diagonal of displays increased from 4.5 to 4.8 inches. Curved OLED displays brought manufacturers $ 1.11 billion, an increase of 124%. This year sales of such displays should make 9,26 billion dollars, in 2020 the income can exceed 20 billion dollars.
