Hackers stole information about the customers of the American startup on the delivery of medical marijuana Eaze and demanded a ransom of $ 70 million. This is reported by TechCrunch.

The company believes that the attackers could access confidential data by attacking the site of the doctor Don Davidson, who is engaged in remote consultation of startup customers. Hackers broke the account of a former employee of Davidson.

Administrators of the site confirmed the fact of hacking and clarified that at the moment unauthorized access is blocked.

The publication notes that in the hands of the hackers were the names, phone numbers and medical records of patients.

Representatives of the startup already reported the incident to law enforcement agencies and began their own investigation.

According to the source, the attackers contacted the management of Eaze and demanded a ransom in exchange for stolen data.

In 2016, hackers attacked the systems of the Presbyterian Medical Center in Hollywood. For the return of control over the network, the attackers demanded a ransom of $ 3.6 million.
