At the beginning of the year, Chris Lattner, the creator of the Swift programming language, designed to develop applications for iOS and Mac, announced the withdrawal from Apple. His new job was the manufacturer of electric cars Tesla, where he was instructed to develop a new system of autopilot. As it became known, in Tesla he was delayed for a short while - Lattner left his post in six months.

"As it turned out, Tesla does not suit me. I'm interested to learn about interesting options for an experienced technical leader. My resume can be found on the Internet. 7 years of experience with the language of Swift, "- wrote Lattner.

The developer did not explain what caused his decision. The press service Tesla noted that "Chris is simply not suitable for Tesla", so the company decided to make changes in the management structure. Responsibilities of Lattner will be taken by Jim Keller, who heads the development department of equipment for autopilot.

Lattner reported on leaving the same day when Tesla announced the appointment of Andrei Karpati as head of the department responsible for the development of AI and the program of autopilot.

Before joining Tesla, Carpati was a research fellow at the non-profit organization OpenAI, which is engaged in researching AI.

Note that in Apple Chris Lattner came in 2005, after he was developing a service for developers LLVM. After that, the project was integrated into Apple's systems, and Lattner began to create Swift.

Developer left Apple in January of this year. He did not specify why he left the corporation, noting that he would "use his abilities elsewhere". According to sources, the fault was the increased secrecy in Apple.
