Ooyala, which offers its services to simplify the creation, streaming and monetization of video clips, published statistics for the first quarter of 2017, in which for the first time most users spend more than 20 minutes (63%) watching videos regardless of the diagonal of the display.

Short video is less popular, the reason for this is the annual increase in the diagonal of the smartphone display. So, if 2 years ago, a smartphone with a 6.2-inch display seemed almost a tablet, today Galaxy S8 is not such because of the almost complete lack of a framework. This has led to the fact that users increasingly prefer to view movies and TV shows on smartphones longer than 20 minutes.

Long videos take:.

-98% of all time spent for TV.

-81% on tablets (last year 51%).

-65% on computers (in the past 35%).

-55% on smartphones (26% increase compared to last year).

At the same time, as you can see, in the case of a PC, the figure has doubled. It is also interesting that now 57% of all videos are viewed on mobile devices (47% - smartphones and 10% tablets).

Yes-yes, tablet is given only 10%, although many people consider tablets as a means of viewing video).

In Africa, viewing video through mobile devices was 54% of all views (an increase of 42%). In North America, more than 50% (a year earlier, 48%). In the Asia-Pacific region, 61% of all videos are viewed on smartphones (last year 46%). In Latin America, this indicator increased from 46% to 56%, while in this region through the tablets only 5% of all video content.
