The salary of software developers who use tabs for indenting lines turned out to be higher than the salary of programmers using for this purpose gaps. This is reported by Ars Technica with reference to studies conducted by the Stack Overflow community.

So, according to the survey, programmers who use spaces as indents while writing code earn an average of $ 59,410 per year. At the same time, the average salary of "tabulists" is 43,750 dollars per year.

It is worth noting that indentation is mandatory in many programming languages, however, the very method of adding them to the program code does not matter for the compiler that processes the code. To explain the dependence of the level of wages on the use of gaps or tabulations is not yet possible.

Ars Technica emphasizes that wage growth of 8.6 percent (this is the difference between 59410 and 43750 dollars of annual income) on average for software developers occurs every 2.4 years.
