How successful is the "smart" Apple HomePod column? While some predict the impressive sales volumes of the new product for Apple, others predict the device failure.
Research company Morning Consult conducted a survey to find out how interested users in Apple HomePod. The survey involved 2,200 people. One in three showed interest in the new product (about 33% of respondents). But only 30% remained interested in buying after acquaintance with the comparative schedule with Amazon Echo and Google Home.
Among those who already use other Apple devices, about 48% were interested in buying HomePod. At the same time, 17% said that most likely they will acquire an "apple" gadget, and 18% preferred Amazon Echo.
In the general group of respondents, 17% of users look towards Amazon Echo, and 11% - more affordable version of Amazon Echo Dot. The share of Google Home also accounted for 11% of respondents, and only 9% of respondents in the poll spoke in favor of buying Apple HomePod.
The novelty from Apple costs $ 349, and devices from Google and Amazon are sold for $ 129 and $ 139 respectively. 57% of respondents said that price plays an important role in choosing a "smart" column.
Sound quality matters for 51% of survey participants. The HomePod column is ahead of the competition in this aspect. The device is equipped with a 4-inch subwoofer, providing clean and deep bass, and seven high-frequency speakers responsible for the cleanliness of high-frequency sound with a separate amplifier for each.
The Apple A8 chip, which is the basis of the HomePod's automatic orientation system, allows the column to determine which part of the room it is in - in the corner, on the desk, on the bookshelf, and optimize the sound taking into account the location.
HomePod is in the process of finalization. Apple spoke about support for Siri's voice assistant, HomeKit controls, and integration with Apple Music. Sales of the device will start in December this year. Perhaps, after the start of sales, HomePod will be able to attract more users.
