According to IHS analysts, in the first quarter of 2017, LG Display delivered 35.42 million large-sized panels (with a diagonal of 9 inches or more), taking into account that the share of the vendor in the global display market of a large size was 21.4%.
Experts note that the South Korean company holds the lead in the industry for 30 consecutive quarters - from October to December 2009. True, the contribution of LG Display to the global volume of large-size panels during this time has slightly decreased - previously it reached 39.22 million panels or 21.9%.
Along with LG Display, in the top five largest manufacturers of large-scale displays, analysts included companies BOE (21%), AUO (16.4%), Innolux (16. 2%) and Samsung Display (10%).
LG Display outperformed the listed manufacturers in terms of sales and the total area of ??the displays - in percentage terms the company's share was 27.8% and 25%. For comparison, the contribution of Samsung Display in terms of sales and area of ??panels produced by analysts was estimated at 15.5% and 16.1%. According to these indicators, the company took the fourth and second places, respectively. It is also noted that the top-3 of the display area was closed by the Taiwanese company AUO.
In general, the global market in January-March 2017 received about 166 million panels with a diagonal of 9 inches or more, which is 8% less than in the previous quarter, experts estimated.
LG Display was the leader in the segment of LCD displays for UHD TV with a share of 29.2%, as well as in the market of TV panels in general (21.1%) and in the category of screens for PC monitors (25.2%).
At the same time, Chinese and Taiwanese manufacturers managed to distinguish themselves in the segment of laptop panels. The share of BOE, Innolux and AUO in this category was 27.8%, 22.2% and 22.1% of the total volume of deliveries, while LG Display and Samsung Display shipped 16.8% and 4% of the displays of this Type.
