Rumors that Apple is developing its own unmanned vehicle, go a long time. A few years ago, sources said that the company was interested in this direction, but in Cupertino never officially commented on these reports.

And now, in an interview with Bloomberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed some details. The head of the company said that Apple has concentrated on autonomous systems for cars. This includes unmanned vehicles. Thus, the general director confirmed early rumors that Apple reoriented from the development of a robotic car to unmanned control systems.

"Autonomy is something incredibly exciting for us, let's see where it leads to us. In terms of the product, we do not say what we will do, but we explicitly state that this technology is very important, "said Apple CEO.

In April of this year, Apple received permission from the California authorities to test self-administered vehicles. That is, the "apple" giant has the full right to test robobomobiles in the US state. In May, Apple machines already noticed on the roads of Palo Alto. IPhone maker tests technology on SUVs Lexus RZ450h.

The first fruits of the car project Apple can give in 2019. Inside the company, it is known as Project Titan, and almost a thousand people work on it. Presumably, Project Titan is headed by former vice president of car development Tesla Motoros Chris Porrit.

The head of Apple confirmed that this is probably one of the most complex projects related to artificial intelligence. However, at the same time Cook did not specify details and said that while the company is not going to disclose details about the products being developed.

"We consider autonomy as the basis of all projects in the field of artificial intelligence. Perhaps this is one of the most complex projects in the field of artificial intelligence, which you need to work on, "said Cook.
