A week ago, Apple introduced a new edition of the proprietary software platform iOS 11. The update contains several new features specifically designed for tablets. In Cupertino are still confident that the iPad is able to replace a regular computer, and innovations in iOS 11 are designed to dispel any doubts.
Files application.
New "Files" application allows you to search, view and sort files on the tablet. For ease of use, there is a special section where the latest files are displayed. The application is not limited to content that is stored on the gadget itself, but also has access to data on other iOS devices and cloud services - iCloud, Box and Dropbox.
New dock.
Now the user can add icons to the dock for quick access to the right applications. In addition, it will be available from any screen, which will facilitate switching between programs. Also, the recently launched applications will be displayed here and those that were used on the iPhone or Mac with the Handoff function.
Drag and Drop.
The drag-and-drop function of iOS 11 allows you to move text, photos and other files from one application to another on the iPad. According to the company, it was developed for large displays with support for multitouch. Just touch one or more objects and drag them anywhere on the screen.
Improved multitasking.
The multitasking mode became even more convenient. Thanks to the functions Slide Over and Split View, users can run two applications simultaneously. Any additional application can be opened directly from the Dock - in Split View mode it will appear together with the current one on the same screen. In Slide Over mode, the second application can be moved to the left. And the updated Application Switch remembers preferences to quickly return to familiar combinations using the App Spaces feature.
Apple Pencil Functionality.
Owners iPad Pro is waiting for more opportunities to work with Apple Pencil. Digital pen will make instant markup in screenshots and PDF files. It can also be used to create notes directly on the lock screen, which will be automatically saved in the Notes application.
At the moment, the beta version of iOS 11 is available only for developers, the release of a public test assembly is expected before the end of the month.
