OnePlus officially threw the owners of the old flagships

Many users call OnePlus smartphones a replacement for the Nexus line. These devices have top technical characteristics, are significantly cheaper than solutions from major brands, operate on a practically "clean" version of Android and are very popular with third-party firmware developers. But smartphones from Google still have one important advantage - guaranteed and timely updates. Last year's OnePlus 3 and 3T quickly updated to Android 7. 0, and then to Android 7. 1 and continue to receive updates regularly. But with older devices, things are less rosy. OnePlus decided to clarify the situation.

Earlier this month, a OnePlus support representative wrote to one of the owners of OnePlus 2 that they stopped the update for this device. Users are extremely outraged, because this smartphone received only one major update from Android Lollipop to Android Marshmallow. And if OnePlus X can not get Android Nougat because of the Snapdragon 801 processor, which does not officially support this OS, then there are no such problems with OnePlus 2.

According to a representative of OnePlus, their support service has long been telling customers that they have stopped supporting OnePlus 2.

"We are happy with what we do with the software. We have already confirmed that Android O will be released for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. So the statement that there will not be Nougat for OnePlus 2 is not new, and we think that people know this, "said OnePlus employee.

The Android Authority resource asked OnePlus to explain why OnePlus 2 will not receive an update. He received an extremely mixed answer:.

"When we released OnePlus 2, we did not have a team to create the software infrastructure that we have now," said OnePlus.

If OnePlus already has a team to create a software infrastructure, it's not clear why it will not release an update for OnePlus 2. And this despite the fact that the company previously guaranteed to support its devices for 24 months and promised Android Nougat for OnePlus 2. But the manufacturer not only does not release new versions of the OS, but also security updates. Not the best advertising for the company before the upcoming announcement of OnePlus 5.
