According to the analytical company Gartner, the volume of the server market was reduced in both pieces and in money. The decline was recorded in almost all regions.

Experts estimated that in the first quarter of 2017, server shipments on a global scale amounted to 2.6 million units worth $ 12.5 billion, which is 4.2% and 4.5% less than a year ago. Only in the Asia-Pacific region has there been a rise.

"The first quarter of 2017 showed a decline at the global level and a slight difference in the results by region. In the hyper-scalable data center sector, costs are increasing, and in segments of large, medium and small companies, they remain limited, as users there meet their needs through alternative solutions such as virtualization and cloud computing, "said Jeffrey Hewitt, vice president of research at Gartner (Jeffrey Hewitt).

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is still the leader in server revenue, which in January-March 2017 earned more than $ 3 billion on the market, which is 8.7% less than a year ago. The company's share decreased from 25.2% to 24.1%.

Dell EMC, which was the second largest company, increased its revenues by 4.8%, while the market share - by 1.7 percentage points, to 19%. IBM's server sales declined 34.6% to $ 831.6 million, or 6.6% of the total market. The top five leaders in terms of money also include Cisco (share - 6.6%) and Lenovo (5.8%).

According to the quantitative supply of servers, Dell EMC is now leading, its share in the first quarter of 2017 reached 17.9% against 17.1% a year earlier. At HPE, the presence indicator, on the contrary, significantly decreased for the year - from 19.4% to 16.8%. The third line went to Huawei, which increased shipments of equipment by almost 20%, to 156.

6 million units. As a result, the market share of the Chinese vendor rose from 4.8% to 6%.

Lenovo, which in early 2016 was in the top 3 server shipments in physical terms, a year later slipped to the fourth position, having recorded an asset of 5.6% of the market. The fifth line was occupied by Chinese Inspur Electronics with a 5.4% result and the largest increase in deliveries (by 27.3%) in the group of leaders. The worst dynamics was demonstrated by Lenovo (-26.7%).
