Program AlphaGo won the match against Ke Jie, the world's strongest player in Go. AlphaGo won the second game of the planned three, reports N + 1 referring to The Verge.

Go is one of the oldest board games. Until recently, it was believed that the computer is not able to play on an equal footing with a professional player because of the high level of abstraction and the impossibility of searching through all the available variants of the development of events - the exact number of permissible combinations in the game on the standard hoban is greater than the number of atoms in the observable universe.

Ke Jie is considered the world's strongest player according to the independent rating of Go Ratings. In Guo there is no official world championship, so it's impossible to become a world champion in Guo, but given the victories of players in different tournaments, you can accurately determine the actual strongest player, who at the moment is Ke Tse.

The AlphaGo vs.

Ke Jie match takes place in the framework of the Go Festival in the Chinese city of Wuzhen (Zhejiang Province). In the second game, the Chinese professional played with white stones and first made moves at the AlphaGo level, but then the program took over and Ke Jie surrendered.

The first game, which took place on May 23, Ke Jie lost with a margin of half a point (the minimum possible superiority in go). Thus, in a match of three games, AI won two games and officially outperformed the strongest player in Go. The third (final) game will be held on May 27.
