In April, Apple received permission from the California authorities to test self-administered vehicles. Thus, the "apple" giant has the full right to test robotic cars on the territory of the US state.

"Machines of the Future" Apple already noticed on the roads of Palo Alto. The iPhone manufacturer is testing the technology on the same models as Waymo, a sister company of Google, which is part of the Alphabet holding company. As you can see on the video, which was at the disposal of MacRumors, SUVs Lexus RZ450h are hung with a variety of sensors.

In particular, the car is equipped with 64-channel lidars Velodyne Lidar, which are considered the best in their category, at least two radars and a whole array of cameras.

The first fruits of the car project Apple can give in 2019. Inside the company, it is known as Project Titan, and almost a thousand people work on it. In the spring of last year it became known that the company is going to entrust the production of a robotic car of a European company - possibly the Austrian Magna, which is known as one of the largest contract manufacturers of cars and components.

Presumably, Project Titan is headed by former vice president of vehicle development Tesla Motoros Chris Porrit.
