Why did Apple transfer production facilities to China? At the same time, unemployment is increasing in her native country, entire industrial branches are being destroyed. Moneytimes experts offered their version of the solution.
This is habitually explained by the economy, they say, wages in China are cheap and, as a result, production is cheaper. But tell me, what percentage of the cost of a high-tech gadget is occupied by the wages of conveyor workers, who need nothing at all? Do not solder the boards. And not only in China, wages are small.
Another version: the Chinese are very hardworking and executive. Too wrong! Spoiled by communist propaganda, the Chinese are rare freeloaders, and if you want to get results, then you need to stand with a stick. That is why the quality of "made in China" products is in itself low, it can only be improved by vigilant control.
So why China?.
And the thing is this: in the production of any modern high-tech product rare earth metals are used. In particular, the iPad has at least 17 of them (the exact figure is unknown, since Apple keeps this kind of information secret): a lanthanum battery is used in the lithium-ion battery of the tablet, in the side magnets for attaching the Smart Cover - neodymium alloy, when polishing the glass screen cover Cerium oxide and so on.
In China, 95-97% of all rare-earth elements are mined on earth. And the Celestial Empire does not allow the export of rare-earth elements in its pure form, only in finished products produced in China itself.
The annual demand for rare-earth elements is 136,100 tons, and China exclusively meets this need.
The West has not the slightest chance in the foreseeable future to establish its own production of its smartphones, tablets, laptops, GPS-navigators and other high-tech toys at home, and in general outside of China.
Apple meanwhile created a fund with a capital of $ 1 billion, of which it plans to finance production in the US. The main goal is to create new jobs in the States. Experts are confident that this is being done to improve relations with President Donald Trump, who is putting pressure on companies whose goal is to force them to "return jobs to the US" and start investing in domestic production.
