With each update of iOS 10, Apple adds new features and fixes current errors. However, the autonomy problem haunts iPhone and iPad owners from the very first version. Fortunately, there are several ways to troubleshoot a problem.
Check the installed applications.
Before you accuse iOS 10 of all your sins, think about how something can defuse the battery. First of all, check the installed applications. Most likely, some of the programs too affect the autonomy.
Go to Settings -> Battery and use the "Battery Usage" function. IOS will show which applications consume the most energy.
If you see an abnormal discharge, open the App Store and check for software updates, because often with updates, developers fix bugs. If there are no updates, try reinstalling the program. This can solve the problem with the battery.
Check widgets.
Widgets are extremely important in iOS 10. But, if you have many interactive elements installed, this can shorten the device's operating time on one charge.
To begin with, being on the home screen, make the svayp to the right, scroll the list of widgets to the very end and click "Edit". Here you will see a large list of services and applications that work with widgets. To delete an unwanted widget, just click on the red circle next to it.
Use the energy-saving mode.
If before you did not use the power saving mode in iOS, now is the time. This mode is extremely important, since it saves 10-20% of the charge. To activate the function go to Settings -> Battery and turn on "Power Save Mode".
Use the Airplane mode.
If you suddenly encounter a rapid battery drain, this may be due to the fact that you are in a zone with poor coverage of the cellular network. When you are in the "dead zone", iPhone is trying to actively look for a signal, which affects the autonomy. In this case, it is recommended to activate the offline mode of operation.
The airplane mode is located at the very beginning of the Settings menu.. Turning it on turns off all wireless technologies, but Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be activated separately.
Disable iCloud Keychain.
If you do not store passwords in iCloud, try disabling the "iCloud Keychain" feature. To do this, go to Settings -> iCloud -> Keychain and deactivate the function. If there is no positive result, you can always turn it on.
Limit application updates in the background.
Do you need each application to update the content in the background? No? Then you should disable background updates, which will positively affect both performance and the autonomy of your device.
Open Settings -> General -> Update content and disable the feature completely or update individual apps.
Adjust screen brightness.
Apple devices use an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness of the screen. Sometimes these sensors work well, sometimes not very, so if you have problems with the time of work, it's better to manually adjust the brightness settings.
Try turning off auto-brightness. To do this go to Settings -> Screen and brightness. After turning off the auto brightness, you can easily configure it yourself through the Control Point.
Turn off "Raise for activation".
Raise to Wake is very useful, but disabling it can have a positive effect on battery life, as the coprocessor will not continuously record the position of the iPhone. Open Settings -> Screen and Brightness and turn off "Raise for activation".
Restart iPhone or iPad.
The quickest solution is to reboot the gadget as usual. Press and hold the power button, and then snap off to turn off the device. Often this allows you to solve problems with the battery.
You can also try to perform a "hard reboot". To do this, hold down the power button and the Home button (the volume down button on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus) for 10 seconds. You will not lose any data.
Reset all settings.
If none of the above does not help, try a more radical method - reset the settings. Open Settings -> General -> Reset and click "Reset All Settings". After that, all your settings will be returned to the factory settings..
Perform downgrade.
For a limited period after the release of updates, you can roll back to the previous version of iOS. However, take care of this as soon as possible, because after a while Apple stops signing the firmware and making the downgrade is not possible.
Upgrade to iOS 10.
If you have not installed the latest version of iOS, on the contrary, update the system. There is a high probability that the current build will fix the problem.
Perform system recovery.
To resort to this method it is necessary only in the event that nothing else helps, since it will temporarily delete data from your device. After installing iOS 10, you will be able to restore all information using a backup.
Connect iPhone to your computer and save the backup to your PC. Also you can create a backup in iCloud.
Turn off Find the iPhone. Settings -> iCloud -> "Find iPhone".
In iTunes, click the Restore button.
Follow the instructions on the screen, and iOS 10 will be completely reinstalled.
Upon completion, restore your data from the previously created backup.
Take the device for diagnosis.
If nothing helps, take your device to a specialist. Perhaps the problem is not in the software. If you have a warranty on devices, you can replace the iPhone for free.
Buy a case with a battery.
Covers with an extra battery can look awful and cumbersome, but more than once will help you out in a difficult situation, especially if you go on a trip. Apple's humpy case is not the worst option.
Buy an external battery.
If you appreciate the design of your iPhone and do not want to disfigure it with cumbersome cases, consider the option of buying a portable charger. Today, these gadgets are very thin and light, but can charge your iPhone many times.
