If your iPhone does not work as fast as you like, the first thought may be the need to carry a smartphone to a service center. However, this is not the only option, and it is not necessary to spend time consulting specialists. Below are some simple tips that help speed up the iPhone.

Reboot the iPhone.

The easiest way that helps in most cases. If something is wrong with your iPhone or iPad, just restart the gadget, especially if you have not done this for a long time. To do this, press and hold the Home and Power button (Home button and volume down, in the case of iPhone 7) until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Free up space in memory.

If you have an iPhone for a long time, most likely, a lot of "garbage" has accumulated in memory. Go to Settings -> General -> Storage and iCloud -> Manage. At this point you can delete unnecessary data.

Note that sometimes iMessage messages take up a few gigabytes of memory. To clear data, go to Settings -> Messages and scroll down to "Message History". Next, select the period for which you want to save the messages, all the others will be erased.

Clear cookies and browser data.

In order to delete the browser data, go to Settings -> Safari and scroll down to the "Clear history and site data". This operation will clear all cookies and browser history.

If you use Google Chrome, you need to start the application, click on the three dots in the upper right corner, go to Settings -> Privacy and find the item with data cleansing. Here you can choose what you need to delete.

Upgrade to iOS 10.

Upgrade to iOS 10. 3, Apple has moved its mobile devices to the APFS file system. Install iOS 10. 1 automatically converts the HFS + system to APFS.

Install iOS 10. 1 will accelerate the loading of the smartphone, improve performance and free up memory, which will positively affect the performance.

Turn off the animation.

Turn off the animation and transition effects will greatly increase the speed of the iPhone. Go to Settings -> General -> Universal access and activate the item "Reduce traffic".

To speed up the GPU it will also be useful to reduce the effect of transparency and blur. To do this, in the Contrast Increase section, move the "Reducing Transparency" toggle switch to the "Enabled".

Disable widgets.

A large number of active widgets consume a lot of system resources. Disabling interactive features can improve the performance of the iPhone and iPad. To disable widgets from your home screen, swipe right and scroll to the bottom. Click the "Edit" button here.. There will be a long list of services and applications, in which widgets are available. If the widget is inactive, you will see a green circle and a "+" inside it, if active is a red circle and "-" inside. Just delete all unnecessary widgets.

"Kill" background processes.

Simultaneous work of many resources in the background slows down the iPhone. If the "Update content" function is active in the settings, applications will update the data in the background. This is very convenient, but it can also cause lags.

To disable this feature, go to Settings -> General -> Update content. Here you can completely disable the feature or activate it for only certain applications.

Please note that you can also have the automatic download of updates from the App Store. To turn it off, go to Settings -> iTunes Store and App Store and turn off apps, books, and music updates.

Quit running applications.

Apple insists that you do not need to close applications due to memory optimization and processor performance. However, in a situation where the device lags, this can improve performance.

Closing applications one at a time in the multitasking panel is a tedious task. In iOS, there is a way to close all running applications at the same time:.

Hold down the power key until the slider appears to turn off the device.

Now press and hold the "Home" key for a few seconds until you return to the lock screen or home screen.

Now the application work in the background process will be suspended, although they will be displayed in the multitasking panel.

Reset to factory settings.

If none of the above does help, the only way out can be a full reset, especially if you have an iPhone 5 or lower. After reset, the device will look like new.

If you make a backup copy of the data, the initial setting will take literally a few seconds.

To delete all data from your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings -> General -> Reset. Select "Erase content and settings".

Contact Support.

If you have completed all of the above, but the iPhone continues to lag, ask for help from a specialist in the Apple Store or Apple's official representatives in Russia.

Buy a new iPhone.

Owners of iPhone 5, 5c and older devices should think about buying a new iPhone, because these gadgets not only work slowly enough, but also most likely will not receive updates to iOS 11.

Ideal option will be the purchase of the iPhone 7 with the most productive processor Apple A10. If the budget does not allow, you should look towards iPhone 6s and iPhone SE.
