Despite the recent statements by Tim Cook that Apple is more interested in augmented reality than virtual, the company's latest patents confirm its interest in both directions. They describe a helmet designed to work with AR and VR.

About the fact that Apple is developing a head-worn device, confirms a patent application called "Head Mounted Display System". According to the description in the document, the device will resemble the virtual reality helmet of some other manufacturers. In particular, the iPhone is placed in a special compartment, after which the helmet is put on the head, immersing the user in the world of 3D content.

The device has a pair of lenses, a distance sensor, a touchpad and smartphone control buttons. The developers have provided support for virtual assistant Siri, so you can manage content on the smartphone screen by giving voice commands.

The second patent, registered by Apple in the US patent office, describes the possibility of using the console with a helmet. It allows you to most conveniently manage the iPhone, configure the virtual reality interface and t.

It is worth noting that the application for these patents Apple filed in 2015.

There is no doubt that in the following years the development of the virtual reality helmet by the company has significantly advanced.

However, nothing is known about Apple's plans for the practical implementation of the idea. According to several sources, the announcement of the device will take place this year along with the jubilee smartphone iPhone 8. Although there is an opinion that the world is not yet ready for mass implementation of VR and AR due to lack of relevant content, so the release of the accessory may be postponed until next year.
