43% of organizations lose an average of at least $ 250 thousand. Per hour as a result of DDoS attacks. 51% of companies need at least three hours to detect a DDoS attack, and 40% of organizations spend at least the same amount of time to repel such attacks. Such data are cited by Neustar experts in the annual report on the analysis of DDoS-attacks and the landscape of cyberthreats. The survey involved more than a thousand heads of IT security departments, technical and financial directors of companies in various sectors - from technology and finance to healthcare and retail.

According to the report, this year the power of 45% DDoS-attacks at the peak exceeded 10 Gb / s. In addition, compared to last year, the number of attacks with a capacity of at least 50 Gb / s has doubled. Experts also point out that DDoS-attacks are equally exposed in various industries - 849 out of 1010 organizations surveyed were victims of such attacks, 86% of them were attacked more than twice.

This year, the number of incidents involving the use of extortion software along with DDoS attacks increased by 53%.

In 51% of cases, attackers accessed databases of clients of companies, abducted money or intellectual property.

According to experts, the attacks continue to become more sophisticated. In particular, in April of this year, specialists of Akamai Technologies recorded the use of CLDAP (Connectionless Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) without establishing a communication session) in DDoS attacks conducted by the method of reflection and amplification.
