I'm a longtime fan of HTC, but all fanaticism has gradually disappeared and the noticeable decline in the popularity of the company's smartphones began after the HTC One M8 was released, which was not bad, but after the M7 everyone expected something completely different, but only got to the mind M7. With the release of M9, the company was finally lost. HTC 10 became different, but this should be M8.

Now HTC 10 - the flagship of the company, but everything will change on the 16th, when Taiwanese will introduce HTC U. If you move away from the HTC theme a little, today, in principle, the interest in smartphones is not so great, as it was in 2012, when all the fans are literally fanatics, the number of processor cores and so on. Now people are interested in one thing: appearance, brand, camera, screen and how the device lies in the hand.

In the case of HTC, the reason for the decline was the lack of dramatic changes in flagship devices, their high cost (the same applies to budget models) and the reluctance to keep pace with the times. There is a feeling that the HTC management is simply not interested in the smartphone market, and they proved this by a common attitude towards virtual reality, having realized its inconsistency. The technology market is very mobile, and you start to notice it over time, when you feel the changes, you see how the giants of the market once go into the shadows, and young and unknown to a year ago the company immediately skyrocket. At the same time, most of them fall down just as quickly, but among them there are those who manage to survive for quite some time on Olympus, and some still enjoy excellent devices.

However, we will not go far from the topic and return to HTC. Let's be honest: today, Taiwanese are interested in few people, only true fans. And the market currently has 3 solutions: iPhone 7, Galaxy S8 and Google Pixel. Everything else goes to the background.

What to expect from the company in 2017? Will it be able to make any kind of competition? May 16 will be presented HTC U. Already now, the technical characteristics of the device, its appearance. The Sense shell is a separate issue. The company should seriously work on its updating, otherwise we will face another failure. However, if you imagine that the shell will be decent, the Taiwanese have every chance to get new fans again.

Of course, do not expect a serious recovery, but U is good to the extent that the market is no longer talking about leaving HTC.

But we know that the main problem of Taiwanese is pricing. I still should not console myself with imaginary hopes for an adequate price tag. And once again, the new flagship HTC will be valued at 700-800 dollars. And in this case, no success should be said, because if you put HTC U and S8 next to you, 70% will choose the second option.
