A 51-year-old local resident applied to the South Ukrainian police station of the Pervomaisky police department stating that criminal acts had been committed against him. This was reported by the press service of the regional police.

According to the applicant, he was called by an unknown person who called himself a security official of a banking institution and said his bank card was blocked. To unblock the account, the telephone interlocutor suggested the man to perform some operations, namely: to name the code that will come to him in a sms-message on a mobile phone.

Having trusted the stranger and agreeing to his proposal, the victim provided him with the necessary information, and then received on his mobile sms-message on removing from his card all available money in the amount of 23650 UAH.

Investigators of the South Ukrainian police department launched criminal proceedings on the grounds of. 1 st. 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Fraud", the sanction of which provides for punishment from a fine to restraint of liberty for up to three years.

Law enforcers establish the identity of an intruder involved in the commission of a specified offense.

Law enforcers ask citizens not to trust telephone strangers who are called employees of banking institutions and, under any pretext, offer you to give their personal details, codes to bank cards, their numbers and the like, and not to inform them of this information. The police are urged to be careful and cautious, and in case of suspicious situations, immediately call law enforcement officers on the phone of the special line "102".
