The emergence of networks of the fifth generation must drastically change our lives. At least, so say leading experts and large companies. We expect the ubiquitous Internet of things, changes will affect the car market. At the moment, one of the main causes of road accidents are bad roads and weather conditions. Researchers from the Center for Technical Research of Finland intend to solve both problems with the advent of 5G. They want cars to share weather data with each other.

Within the framework of the 5G-Safe project, Finnish researchers intend to develop new systems for monitoring and monitoring weather on the roads at the hyperlocal level. Also their goal is to teach self-directed cars to "hear".

"Modern driver assistance systems are mainly based on a visual presentation, relying on signals generated by vehicle sensors. 5G and near radio stations will bring vehicles the ability of speech and hearing, taking their opportunities to a new level, "said Tiya Oyapeya, project manager.

The technologies developed by researchers do not require any action on the part of the driver. Local weather and traffic conditions will be automatically recognized by vehicle sensors and distributed in real time to other drivers on the road and self-directed vehicles. Thus, drivers and cars themselves will be constantly aware of the condition on the road, which will allow them to change their behavior accordingly. This should help significantly reduce the number of accidents.
