GitHub announced the launch of an improved version of the program for developers. It will be free for all users and will be expanded with new features. The program, launched in 2014, was previously only available to developers with paid accounts.

The head of business development GitHub Joe Wadcan (Joe Wadcan) said that the company makes the program a double rate. He called it "the first step in a long journey with a focus on developers who create products based on the GitHub API".

The new version of the program is divided into three levels. Each is designed for projects of different maturity. The first level offers tools for learning the API and access to individual content and activities aimed at those who create their first projects.

The second level of the program includes everything from the first, as well as such advantages as support for retweets and more opportunities for placing projects on digital platforms GitHub. It also includes strategic consulting services.

The third level is intended for application developers, in which about one thousand users are connected to the GitHub account. The company will actively communicate with the authors of applications that fit the highest level of the program.

Vadkan noted that the updated product is intended for those who want to withdraw their creations from an amateur level to a professional.

GitHub also announced the first partners in the program for developers. They will receive additional benefits like specialized marketing at the corporate level and sales training. The list of partners included Circle CI, SRC: CLR, GitPrime, Travis CI, Buildkite, ZenHub and Waffle.

The service as a whole supports more than 20 million developers and contains more than 50 million projects.
