Observatory of the solar dynamo NASA managed to take pictures of the sun without spots. As noted on the agency's website, stains on the star were absent for 15 days, which indicates that the solar cycle is approaching the next minimum.

The cycle of activity of the Sun lasts 11 years, it is marked by two extremes: the solar maximum and the minimum. Solar spots are dark regions of activity of the surface of the sun. The number of sunspots is used as an indicator of activity.

The next solar minimum is expected in 2019-2020.
