Chrome leads the global browser market for almost a year. This is evidenced by the data of the NetMarketShare service, which tracks the activity of more than 160 million unique users, browsing over 40,000 sites around the world.

In April 2016, Chrome for the first time outstripped Internet Explorer in popularity among web browsers for personal computers, fixing a market share of 41.71% against 36.61% of the opponent. In February 2017, Chrome leadership increased: the presence indicator rose to 58.53%, while the product Microsoft, on the contrary, continued to show a drop (the share fell to 19.17%).

Internet Explorer began to lose ground after that in early 2016, Microsoft stopped supporting all versions of Internet Explorer, except the last - the eleventh. Since that time, security updates and technical support are not provided for Internet Explorer 10 and older versions of Microsoft's web browser.

Now the American corporation promotes its other browser - Edge. However, its share in February 2017 was only 5.55%, for the year having increased by only 1.6 percentage points.

The top three most popular browsers for desktops and laptops are still Firefox, whose share for the year has not changed and remained at 11.68%.

The share of Safari, which for many years fluctuates around 5%, in the second calendar month decreased to 3.45%.

StatCounter also counts its statistics, taking into account more than 15 billion views of web pages on 3 million websites. According to this portal, the leader of the global browser market for computers for a long time is Chrome, whose share in February 2017 was almost 63%. At the second position is Firefox (14.8%). The third line for Internet Explorer (9.62%). Next were Safari (5.34%) and Edge (3.68%).
