Millions of Christians perceive the Bible as the history of God about the creation of the world, redeeming and the last God of God over living and dead. It includes stories about Adam and Eve, Noev Ark, David and Goliath, Crucifixion and Resurrection.

But who actually wrote this masterpiece, numbering more than 700,000 words? In general, the researchers agree that it is written by several people. According to Professor Elizabeth Polzer, biblicalist from the University of Villanov in Pennsylvania, the Bible probably wrote more than 40 people, writes Mailonline. However, it is difficult to identify these people.

“Each Bible Book should be considered separately to determine who its author is,” the professor explains.

Of course, the Bible was not written at once. It is actually a collection of scriptures, the oldest of which dates from almost 3500 years.

The Bible consists of the Old and New Testament.

The Old Testament was written at different times for about the 900-year period, began around 1200 BC. and ending around the first century BC.

Meanwhile, the New Testament was written for a much shorter period - for the last half of the first century of our era.

According to Professor Polzer, in some cases, scientists know who exactly wrote the Bible Book, but in others it is less clear.

" But such books, like being and the outcome that traditionally attributed to Moses, because of disagreements and duplication in them, it is now believed that they were written by several different people for centuries, ”she explains.

As for the four gospels, which are allegedly written by four evangelists - Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, they are technically considered anonymous. Only in the early stages they were attributed to the Church fathers to these four evangelists.

" For example, attributing authorship to Matthew and John is convenient and probably, since they were direct students of Jesus, but historical factors seem to undermine these attributes, ”says Polzer, so most scientists agree that these attributes are false or erroneous.

Finally, there are books in the Bible, the traditional attribution of which can be partially correct, for example psalms, a book of the Old Testament, consisting of sacred songs and sacred poems.

" However, others most likely come from other authors of hymns, and they were later collected together as one collection, ”the professor adds.

This opinion is also supported by Philip Almond, a historian of religious culture from the University of Queensland in Australia. He considers the authorship of the Bible complex and problematic, partly because it is now difficult to identify specific authors.
