According to the California Academy of Sciences, not a single shrew of Mount Lyele has never been photographed alive before. So they were the only famous type of mammals in California who escaped human cameras.

However, it has recently changed. A diplomed photographer of Wildlife Vicchal Subramanyan, together with students-scientific trainee Jain and Harper Forbes, went to the eastern mountains of Sierra Nevada, where they managed to take several living lands of Mount Lyelli to the camera, writes Cnn Science.

The idea to try to photograph this type of mammals arose with one of the students - Prakrit Jaina, who was in shock when he found out that there was not a single photograph of a lively earth -like Lyel.

In collaboration with the museum of zoology of the California Verser University in Berkeley, a photographer and students developed a plan for searching for flows and water-bombed lands crossing rare landscapes near a small vine community, about 480 kilometers east of San Francisco.

" Therefore, I said: \? “We must try,” photographer Subramanyan told his reaction to the proposal.

The difficulty to photograph the shrew lively is that they have a very high metabolic rate. That is, if she stops eating for several hours, then he dies. So - it cannot be alive in a trap for a long time.

The team installed more than 100 traps and constantly watched them for three consecutive days, almost did not sleep to monitor the well -being of animals.

" We successfully found and photographed 5 individuals and received valuable environmental information about the form and neighbors!

"

He also said in an interview that it is quite difficult to handle the shrews, because they bite and are poisonous. However, he noted that this is worth it.

Having captured the shoes alive, the team said that they were able to observe their behavior, noticing the habit of mammals to hide food for later or make micro -transit for sleep.

Photography of living animals, especially smaller and incomprehensible, also allows the public to communicate with them, helping efforts to preserve.
