Japanese company Shionogi & Co. said that it is preparing to release a drug that can kill the flu virus in 24 hours. According to ScienceAlert, the most effective modern drugs require 72 hours.

The new drug is balkoxavir marboxil (baloxavir marboxil). The creators of the drug claim that the patient needs only one dose of the drug for a complete recovery. The third phase of clinical trials of the drug was completed in January.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan approved the production of the drug in early February 2018. The company-manufacturer expects an official permit in March.

If the ministry issues a permit, the first batch of the drug is planned for release in May 2018. To draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the drug in the "field conditions" will be already in the winter of 2019. Will it be sold in other countries, while it is unknown.
