Many people suffer from back pain, which is most often caused by sedentary work or activities that involve lifting weights..

Such a lifestyle leads to the appearance of intervertebral hernias, which can be detected only with the use of special diagnostic equipment: MRI, computed tomography, X-ray, CT - myelography, as well as when the patient is examined by a specialist.

The vertebral column consists of many vertebrae, connected by articular processes, between the first and second there are vertebral discs, elastic enough, which allows a person to easily change body position, bend and straighten. A strong muscle frame is required to prevent lateral displacement of the spinal disc.. Often, weak muscles do not cope with this task, and the disc moves to the side, bursts and spreads, and after hardening in this position, it negatively affects the nerve fibers that penetrate the spine, which causes various health problems, including paralysis.

Types of intervertebral hernias 1. By the degree of protrusion:.

• up to 3 mm - is normal and not dangerous;

• up to 6 mm - the first stage of the disease;

• up to 15mm - ruptured hernia.

In the direction of protrusion:.

• front - the least dangerous protrusion - in front;

• lateral - often enter the openings of the roots of the spinal nerves;

• posterior - the most dangerous and unpredictable, as they are able to squeeze the spinal cord, leading to violations of its functionality;

• vertical - Schmorl's hernia - penetrate into the vertebral body, leading to its partial destruction.

By location: cervical, lumbar, chest.

Treatment of intervertebral hernias is carried out in accordance with the symptoms and examination results:.

• if the hernia is less than 3 mm, as well as in the absence of any symptoms, the patient does not need treatment;

• sometimes hernias go away after 24 weeks completely independently, therefore, if there are no special indications for that, treatment is not carried out during this period, and the patient is only monitored by a specialist;

• to reduce back pain, anti-inflammatory nonsteroidal drugs, ointments containing hormones are used;

• a complex of physiotherapy exercises is individually developed;

• the appointment of a special massage is also possible, which is also individual.

Traditional methods of treating intervertebral hernias are also used: honey massage, rubbing with vegetable oils, compresses with horse fat.

Indicated for patients with spinal problems and spa treatment.
