If you are one of those who like to sit in front of a TV or monitor for longer, be careful - you may become depressed.

A study by scientists at the University of Ohio Medical Center, conducted on hamsters, proved the negative effect of dim light at night on the body. "

During the experiment, rodents were kept in dim light at night for four consecutive weeks.. As a result, the hamsters showed distinct symptoms of depression: they became less mobile, lethargic, refused even water with sugar, which they love very much.

14 days after returning to the normal light cycle, rodents got rid of signs of depression and became active, as before.

Scientists explain the reason for this effect, the thing is the changes in the brain that occur when exposed to dim lighting. Tumor necrosis factor in the brain of humans and animals leads to depression, and its production under artificial illumination at night increases sharply. The results of the study confirmed the theory that artificial night lighting caused an increase in the number of depression over the past fifty years.
