More than 8 million smokers in Ukraine. Since 2010, the number of smokers in Ukraine has decreased by 20%.. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with reference to the results of the Global Adult Tobacco Use Survey (GATS).

Among young people 13-15 years old, smoking decreased by 23% compared to 2011 and by 43% compared with 2005.

According to GATS, 92.7% of adults believe that smoking can lead to serious illnesses; 85.5% - that inhalation of second-hand smoke causes serious diseases; 53.

7% - that smoking hookah with tobacco can lead to serious diseases; 11.5% mistakenly believe that some types of cigarettes are less harmful than others; 83.2% support the prohibition of smoking in rooms at work and in public places; 21.0% of smokers say they will stop smoking if the price of tobacco products rises sharply, and 25.8% say they will smoke less.

Now, according to a study, 40% of men and 9% of women smoke in Ukraine - only 8.2 million people.
