Hundreds of localities, tens of thousands of patients examined - for four years already, the Kharkiv region Medicine for People program has been operating in the region, thanks to which free medical examinations are held in rural areas. This program is implemented by the Charitable Fund for Social Development of the Kharkiv region with the participation of volunteer doctors.
A neuropathologist, oculist, cardiologist, ultrasound specialist and gynecologist, “armed” with modern diagnostic equipment, are the heavy medical “artillery” that the Foundation has engaged in in the struggle for the health of the villagers. Since 2015, mobile teams of volunteer doctors travel around the region and conduct free medical examinations on the basis of rural ambulance stations and medical and obstetric points. The priority is given to the most remote and deaf villages, whose inhabitants have limited access to medical services.. Charity medical examinations allow people to undergo a comprehensive preventive examination: take an ECG, determine blood sugar levels, check eyesight and measure intraocular pressure, make an ultrasound of the internal organs, consult with specialists of a narrow profile.
“For the local population, the most important thing that can happen in the village is medical examinations, this is the most important and necessary,” says Elena Mushik, head of the FAP village in Shulskoye, Pervomaisky district. - Almost all residents over 65 years old do not go anywhere, because they have health problems - arthritis, arthrosis, hypertension. And some cannot even reach the FAP, I come to them myself. During the inspection, we will arrange for their delivery - people are brought here by the family doctor’s car, and they have the opportunity to go through those specialists whom they would not otherwise get to if there are no medical examinations. ”.
This year, the medical teams of the Foundation worked in the villages of the Kharkiv region from May to October. In many localities, doctors visited for the fourth time.. Systematic and consistent work has allowed doctors not only to gain the confidence of villagers, but also to achieve tangible results in terms of prevention and timely diagnosis of diseases.
"This is very useful, very necessary, very good for people. For example, not every person can go to the district hospital to undergo an ultrasound. And at the exit medical examination it can be done in our clinic, and for free.
And the person with this result goes to his family doctor, he prescribes treatment, and the patient is treated at the place, ”says Elena Ushenko, nurse of the family medicine ambulatory in the village of Shipovoye, Velikiy Burluk district.
During the four years of the Kharkiv Medicine for People program, the Foundation organized 673 charitable medical examinations.. Volunteers visited all the districts of the region and in total rendered almost 172 thousand medical services to the rural population..
