Controversy continues regarding the safety of electronic cigarettes and the degree of their harm compared to conventional cigarettes. Opponents of electronic devices refer to the latest study, which talks about the relationship of warts and lung cancer.

Most chemical compounds from electronic cigarettes that provoke cancer remain in the lungs. Twelve smokers were observed. It turned out that the average concentration of aldehydes in the exhaled air after smoking an electronic cigarette is 10.5 times higher than before smoking. And the concentration of formaldehyde is hundreds of times lower than in evaporation. Hence, the lion's share of toxic fumes settles in the body.

By the way, electronic cigarettes are also dangerous for the liver. Studies have shown: they lead to the accumulation of fat in the liver. This is confirmed by experiments with mice. In electronic cigarettes, there is nicotine, which has already been associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Within 12 weeks, scientists examined mice lacking the apolipoprotein E gene. Such a modification of the genome made mice predisposed to the development of heart disease and the accumulation of fat in the liver. All animals were fed food rich in fats and cholesterol.

In this case, one group of mice were exposed to electronic cigarettes (the level of nicotine in their blood can be compared with smokers and users of electronic cigarettes). The second group was a control group. Scientists collected samples of liver mice and studied genes.

They were interested in how electronic cigarettes influenced the organ at the genetic level.

Changes were detected in 433 genes associated with the development of fatty liver disease. Also, the genes associated with circadian rhythms. And, as you know, violations in these rhythms lead to an accelerated development of liver diseases, including fat. So, electronic cigarettes can not be considered a safe alternative to conventional cigarettes.
