American scientists from the University of North Carolina have become even closer to defeating HIV.

The changes in the structure of DNA of immune cells were changed and they were introduced into the body suffering from the disease. And to the surprise of scientists, these cells could "identify" the virus and start destroying it. Also, according to scientists, modified cells do not harm health.

Scientists have found that when HIV enters the body, it has a special "shield" from a set of proteins that changes over time, which prevents the body from producing antibodies on time, and thereby the virus wins by causing irreversible falls in immunity.

But at the same time, the researchers note that by "supervising" the immunity properly, the antibodies will begin to be developed much earlier, which will allow the virus to be destroyed independently.

Tests were carried out not only on animals, several volunteers were taken, undergoing immunotherapy, they were injected with modified cells. By results it has appeared, that after introduction of cells the organism began to struggle more actively with a virus, finding and destroying it.

As scientists note, this outcome opens the way to more massive and productive clinical trials.
