Scientists were able to identify human stem cells, which subsequently give rise to bone and cartilaginous tissue.

In general, scientists have long identified the so-called mesenchymal stem cells. But of them, then, cells of adipose tissue are also obtained, according to Science and Life. Scientists have tried to find exactly the type of stem cells that "mutates" in the bones and cartilage.

And the ancestors of osteoblasts and chondrocytes were found.

Michael Longacker and Charles Chan first achieved success in mice, and then distributed the study to humans.

It turned out that a certain type of stem cells with strictly specified gene activity is capable of producing only bone and cartilaginous tissue. More than any kind of tissue grow it can not.

The discovery will help researchers cope with osteoporosis, joint damage, and develop new treatments for fractures.
